Regular eye exams are an invaluable tool in maintaining healthy eyes by detecting and preventing disease. Some diseases develop slowly without causing pain or vision loss. Early detection of any problems can reduce the risk of further harm and allow for a choice of treatment options. The entire exam process can take up to an hour depending on the complexity of the problem. Each patient will be evaluated with a refraction, biomicroscope examination, intraocular pressure measurements and a retinal exam.

We take pride in maintaining the vision of our younger patients in an environment that is lighthearted and fun. We want to insure the good sight, vision, and eye health for the rest of your child's life and take a preventative approach to his/her general health and eye health. We will work with your child's primary care physician to help keep his/her eyes healthy. It is important that all of our pediatric patients have healthy and efficient visual systems to help make visual demands of learning in school easier and fun.

Thanks to the advances in optical technology, almost everyone is a candidate for contact lens use. This includes patients with astigmatism and also those who prefer bifocal or multifocal lenses. At our office, we offer a comprehensive array of contact lenses to suit each individual patient's needs. We offer daily disposables, extended wear lenses, gas permeable contact lenses, and hybrid contact lenses. We offer regular and custom lens services for both healthy and difficult to fit patients.

Drs. Blair and Ellis provide eye examinations for patients with diabetes. It is important for people who have been diagnosed with diabetes to have their eyes examined annually, because diabetic retinopathy is one of the leading causes of blindness in the United States. During the examination, the doctors will document the health of your retinas with digital retinal photographs, and a report will be sent to the primary care physician managing the diabetes. If necessary, a referral will be made to a retinal specialist if severe enough diabetic changes are found.

Dr. Koplos provides binocular vision testing, dyslexia testing, refractive treatment of double vision, and management of learning related vision problems.

LASIK consultations/co-management. Working closely with Paul Gulbas, MD and the New Vision Laser Center of El Paso, we provide extensive pre-and-post operative care for Laser Vision Correction. Dr. Chris Koplos provides examinations, training, and devices to improve the independence, visual function, and quality of life for those patients visually impaired by eye conditions such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and most other eye diseases and conditions which result in poor vision despite the use of corrective lenses.
