Learn about Low Vision with Our Optometrist at University Vision Centre
Some eye problems are not as cut and dry as just needing a prescription lens to fix. Low vision is an issue that we treat here at University Vision Centre which requires more than a prescription to address. If you have felt as though your vision is decreasing, or have more trouble with seeing in certain situations, such as driving at night, then contact our optometrist for a consultation. We serve patients in and around El Paso with quality eye care.
Not All Vision Problems Can Be Fixed with Prescription Lenses
According to the World Health Organization, low vision is defined as a visual acuity less than 6/18 and equal to or better than 3/60 with the best correction. The key defining element of low vision is that it is vision so poor, it’s no longer correctable by a lens prescription or typical methods of vision correction.
Often, people who are diagnosed with low vision will benefit from vision therapy, a change in a prescription if the last one no longer works, and sometimes surgery to fix the original cause. If you have found that your vision has decreased despite already having lenses, or if you are having trouble seeing even though you never wore glasses in the past, then call us to set up an appointment to determine the cause of your problem.
